      Hi everybody.

I've done a lot of searching around and haven't come up with a working solution yet.

I'm attempting to upgrade a Hacom Mars 1U pfSense appliance from 2.0.1 to 2.2.6 and the system is choking. Every time I initiate the update process, after it downloads & processes, the machine reboots and stalls during the boot process with the following error message:

      Stopped at kdb_enter+0x3d: movl

Can somebody please point me in the right direction?  Thanks in advance!

      Regards,
      Jon

That is something you'll have to contact Hacom to fix. They made their own modifications to the installations on units they sold, and some require a special upgrade file to return to a state that is capable of being upgraded using the normal mechanisms.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I was worried that may be the response.

I already contacted Hacom and they don't seem interested in helping me out other than suggesting that pfSense might not support 32-bit hardware, the problem "was supposed to be fixed in 2.2.3" and, essentially (paraphrased, obviously) "Buy new shit."

You can probably reinstall it from scratch with a stock version and be fine. Your config backup can be restored afterwards.
