      hi all,

my WOL is no longer working and i dont know why

i have enabled in the BIOS the power on by PCIe device which is the realtek NIC

i have windows firewall disabled for all public/private/guest networks

i have attached screenshots of what i have configured for the WOL to work

in the adv1/2 i have configured it like so, left the other ones untouched -

      energy efficient ethernet - disabled

      green ethernet - disabled

      shutdown WOL - disabled

wake on magic packet - enabled

wake on pattern match - disabled

WOL and shutdown link speed - 10 - didnt touch this

EDIT - my ethernet is on a private network out of public or guest, is this a problem?

But what you didn't provide is the pfSense WoL details (assuming pfSense WoL is what is being used to send WoL packet).

Or if something other that pfSense WoL is being used to send the WoL packet.  Details of that.

yes pfsense is being used to send the wol packet and it just doesnt work, it used to work

i go services > wake on lan type in my mac address and what interface its hooked up to (i get all this detail from diagnostic > arp table)

Packet capture the interface to see if the packet is being sent.  Sniff the client interface to see if the packet is being received.  If being sent but not received check all points in between.  Process of elimination.

found out it was the shutdown wake on lan that was the issue, changed it to enable and while i was in there i enabled patter match, dont know if i need this but oh well

              shutdown WOL - enable

wake on pattern match - enable

              job done
