      Update: This is solved.  Switch was not plugged into the main switch, but the old router.

      I have just install pfSense 2.3.  Installation worked fine and I was able to get on the internet without issue. However, I have my network setup with a main switch and it connects to a smaller switch in another room because it would have been too hard to run multiple wires.  The switches are just basic switches.  The computers and VMs on the main switch connect to pfsense correctly and are able to get DHCP and connect to the Internet. The computers on the second switch can't seem to talk to pfSense at all. DHCP times out.  I see no logs in pfSense.  I tried setting static ip and gateway.  I can't ping pfSense and still see no logs in pfSense.

      I am able to switch back to my original Asus router and the machines are able to connect back to DHCP correctly.  I am hopping that there is some odd security setting that I have not found yet that can fix my problem.

      Thanks for the help.

        What kind of swithes? Have you configured VLANs? Make sure there are no switching loops.

          @mikeisfly:

          Main Switch - Netgear GS108
          Secondary Switch - Trendnet TEG-S50g

          The computers on the Trendnet are the ones I am having issues with. There are no vlans.  This setup works fine with my ASUS RT-N66U.

            This is solved.  This was my fault due to old wiring. Switch was plugged into the old router not the main switch.
