The snort package has been removed from pfSense.  It is broken and it has no active developer working on it.

Is there a replacement for SNORT?  Some other package for deep packet inspection that can be used for blocking P2P and other content based rules.

            Thanks,

              Not at the moment.

I wish I could maintain it (I'm too stupid).  I only had 2 issues during the entire time I used it (6 months) and only 1 of those was what I would call broken (auto update).  Scott, would a bounty for a maintainer work?  I would be willing to fork some over for that.

Yes, it is recommended that you consider starting a bounty project for the package.
