Try another switch if the problem goes away then you need to look at the setup of the AT switch there must be something blocking pfSense seeing the mac

More information would be helpful, but here's a few things to check- Do you have DNS resolution- can you ping a name from the workstation or from pfSense? Do you have a firewall rule allowing the traffic out? (Is it the LAN?) What about outbound NAT? If this is an OPT interface, did you create an outbound NAT rule?

Well, it's kinda working now. After changing the interface name in the config from optX to carpX, the interface was set to LAN (should be pubWlan) by pfSense, and that was the reason it was not working initially in addition to a required reboot. But, the CARP on both fw's are now master, and i cannot see any multicasted VRRP packages on those interfaces anymore. A solution/workaround is highly welcome. Thanks.

Right on the money morbus, i hooked my router up to my modem directly (after checking my configs a bit more) and testing the public networks option and it works, appears i was running into problems because i was testing it in a cascading NAT situation. Thanks for your help hopefuly in full deployment i wont cripple my self so badly!

I have not seen this behavior in newer versions.

Take a look at a billing package called freeside. It supports this and is opensourced,  and also has commercial support. We have used it for several years and are using it with pfsense / radius for the last month. http://www.sisd.com/freeside/ for a quick start using a vmware image: http://www.sisd.com/freeside/developers.html -Mark
