SG1100 repeatedly auto-reboots

Re: New SG1100 is stuck in an auto-reboot loop.
I have had this unit for about a year and a half. It comes on for a few seconds, then restarts. I saw here ([https://forum.netgate.com/topic/144636/sg-1100-intermittent-reboots/17](link url)) that it could be temperature related. Should I unplug and let it cool to see if that fixes it?

I would connect the serial console and see where it reboots and what it shows when it does.

Is that the port on the right that has a USB symbol and "SS"? Is the router going to stop bouncing long enough for me to dig around in there?
-
@metalgravy The console port on a Netgate 1100 is the micro USB port beside the power connector. The on-line manual has instructions for connecting.
-
You shouldn't need to do any digging. The important thing is to look are where in the boot cycle it's rebooting.
If you need to re-install it you need to use the console to do that anyway so connecting to it is always a good step.Steve

here is the "Connecting to the Console Port" official doc.

Thanks for all the replies so far. Which is a safe source for PuTTY?

Yes, that is the official source. ^

I'm seeing output. It says to press a key on the console to abort auto-reboot. I guess that doesn't mean the keyboard because pressing keys does nothing. I see a bunch of output, including by this message
***** FILE SYSTEM MARKED CLEAN ***** Filesystems are clean, continuing... Mounting filesystems... random: unblocking device. __ _ __ / _|___ ___ _ __ ___ ___ | '_ \| |_/ __|/ _ \ '_ \/ __|/ _ \ | |_) | _\__ \ __/ | | \__ \ __/ | .__/|_| |___/\___|_| |_|___/\___| |_| Welcome to pfSense 2.4.4-RELEASE (Patch 3)... panic: ufs_dirbad: /: bad dir ino 94827 at offset 512: mangled entry cpuid = 1 Uptime: 22s Automatic reboot in 15 seconds - press a key on the console to abort
Is there a way to pipe the full output to a file? Is there anything in particular that I should be looking for?
-
OK, that's a file system error. You can probably recover from that by running a manual filesystem check:
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/filesystem-check.html#manual-filesystem-checkHowever that's also a very old version. If you have a backup of the config or can recreate it easily I would install the current version clean and restore your config into it. Open a ticket with us to get the recovery image: https://go.netgate.com/

The system was marked clean, but booting from it isn't possible.
