@gertjan Yeah thanks. I don't do this and I understand why it is bad to do so.
In this case, as @stephenw10 mentions below, the 2100 is already off and it's the only way to restart it when having this particular problem.
An IOT/Smart light bulb might not agree with your implication that it's safe to just remove power abruptly. Just kidding :-). Thanks for the reply.

Just for interest: can you share model/type of the DC UPS/PSU?
Thats really a very strange issue. Dump idea: any bad grounding between LAN switch and UPS that initiates an power interruption at DC out?
If you are familiar with electronis you can check with a voltmeter if there is any voltage between housing of switch and housing of UPS. If all is fine, there shouldnt be any voltage.Regards

Here are some pics of the PSU.
I am using the splitter cable that came with it. It splits the DC output into 2. One goes to the Alcatel and the other goes to the 2100.
It is fed by a 2 prong plug (no earth) and has a plastic casing. The only thing I can deduce is that the negative will be shared between the 2100 and the Alcatel as the ground. The Alcatel is also in a plastic case, so I cannot measure the voltage between the 2 devices.

Another dump question: are you sure the DC plug fits the SG-2100 tight, so if you plug in the WAN cable do not cause an short outage?BTW: DC output is 12V 1000mA referring to label. Is that sufficient for SG-2100 and the Alcatel device?
Input label at SG-2100 is 12V 2.0A, so in my understanding even when running the SG alone that PSU does not provide sufficient current!?

It explains the fact that when I power the Alcatel on (this causes the 2100 to go off), the inrush for this could bring the supply to the 2100 down for a split second and because the supply is border line already, the 2100 shuts off.
That must be the hassle, thank you and apologies to all for the red herring.

. No one knows in advance which PSU was used, so no one could know something about the electrical data.
Would be great if you can give a final feedback when you modified your environment.Regards

They are designed so yeah you can just remove power abruptly ;) Most of the ones I have seen when you remove power 3 times abruptly they go into setup mode.
All the ones I have - which sucks, is when they loose power they turn on when its returned. When we have a power outage.. Pretty much every light in the house comes on - heheh

@gertjan I don't think its "test" anything mode. Just how they work. If you cycle the power on them they come on.
This does allow for manual control of them if internet is down. But if you want to "reset" them so you can set them up again.. You cycle the power 3 times in rapid succession.
I do have a few lights with switches in the wall that you can control, or just use the switch - I do like these better because internet is not required for them to work.. But the switches are more expensive..

At some point would like to get the whole house setup with those. And you don't actually need "smart" bulbs.. But its way more work (changing the switch in the wall) then just putting in a 10$ light bulb..

Yup, almost certainly that. In fact I'm surprised that works at all with 12W max to share between both. It must be right on the edge it's capability, hence any sort of surge could cause it to shutdown.
