@stephenw10 @SteveITS I did everything, but it is just not working, trying to change the monitoring IP too. Kept a switch between ISP router and pfsense but still nothing.
Changed the NIC interface and tried it… but no luck!
It just shows gateway is down and there is no internet in the pfsense. But from the ISP router the net is working in Routing mode and Bridge mode. I tried everything i could, but not working for me. I m so confused what could have caused this…

@apaar Did you try powering off your iSP router?

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

If the ISP router is in routing mode then pfSense should always be able to ping it. That will be it;s gateway IP so the default monitoring address would be the local ISP router.
If that is failing then there is some local issue. That should shows as online even if the actual upstream WAN fails. Which is a another reason to not use that for monitoring.
But if that is the case then it must be either pfSense failing to send the traffic, bad NIC perhaps, of the ISP router failing to respond, maybe it's blocking the traffic somehow.

@stephenw10 i m using the router on bridge mode on static IP and that way its showing that the gateway is offline with 100% packetloss.

With the monitoring IP set to the gateway? The local ISP router?

Is it even pulling a DHCP lease from the ISP router?

I assume the link shows as UP at least?

@stephenw10 i have my Gateway Ip provided by the isp not the local router IP. I didnt check the dhcp lease from the isp router, but the link is up.

Right but you said it also failed with the ISP router in router mode, yes?

In router mode pfSense would be pulling a lease in the local private subnet from the ISP router (double NAT). So if it also fails there the failure must be local.

@stephenw10 In routing mode i checked with my laptop and it is giving internet from the isp router not from the pfsense. But when putting the router to bridge mode and trying to access internet, it is just showing gateway down but the link is UP.

@stephenw10 I just checked the pfsense with my other isp and it is taking the Local ip of that router since the isp is on dynamic mode and internet is working with it. Also shows the gateway is up, but with the static ip it wont work, just showing gateway down.

Ah, OK. So you are trying to use a static IP and it fails?

If you leave the ISP router in router mode and set the pfSense WAN as DHCP does it connect and pull a lease on the ISP routers LAN subnet?
You will have to be sure the pfSense LAN subnet does not conflict with that.

as well as on static mode connecting directly to PC.

How exactly did you do that test?

@stephenw10 I have 2 ISP’s one for the home network, which is running on dynamic mode and the other ISP is on static for my home servers. So i tested the dhcp lease on my home network which is running the dynamic ip and i just set the configured the pfsense to Dhcp mode and it grabbed the ip and the local gateway of the router.
But with the other ISP in the static mode the gateway is showing offline and 100% packet loss.

Do you have the correct gateway/settings?
Is the subnet set correctly on that WAN? (if not, your IP maybe can't reach its gateway)

@steveits I did check the IP and the gateway and set the subnet to 24 bit for 255.255.255.0. If i m correct.

If you connect a PC directly to the static config ISP and set those same values does it work as expected?

Ok then either pfSense is not using the interface as expected or the ISP is not allowing it.

Perhaps the interface assigned is not the one you're using. Or maybe the ISP has blocked the MAC address.

Do you see the ISPs gateway as a complete entry in the ARP table? In Diag > ARP?

@stephenw10 The interface is detecting on the other ISP, But the ISP wont block the mac address. I ll check the table.
