Pfsense possibly corrupted software
-
Hi so Ive been using a Netgate sg 2100 for some time with no issues until I lost my login credentials and had to do a reset. Problem is, the reset somehow saved preferences from my old setup. I upgraded to 23.05 and tried to reset again to factory defaults.
It will reset the password and ip config but somehow remembers https being enabled and a package that shouldn't be there. Everything else is removed.
Is there a way to fully erase this device and reinstall the OS?

Yeah grab the 2100 image from tac, and then you can do a full clean install.

@tibtub There's a doc for that here: Reinstalling on 2100
Edit: beat by a legend.

haha - but you posted a better link to be honest, full instructions and the link to tac right there at the top of the page..

@johnpoz I'm constantly surprised how much detailed good stuff is in the docs. Ubiquiti could learn a lot from Netgate in this regard.

@tibtub On a 2100 you have to time it right. https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/netgate-2100/factory-reset.html (lurkers: some other models that button just reboots)
Or use the console menu option to reset, or web GUI Diagnostics menu to reset.
