Unable to configure new interface!

Hi,
This is probably per design, but it is impractical for my use case.
I have set up a new interface, given it an IP etc and do not want to enable it before I have set up all the rest, ie DHCP and firewall rules. Problem being, it won't show up there unless I enable it...
Can I do something about this, or is this the way it is basically?

Thats how it is. Unless its enabled, you cant do anything.

Yes, it won't appear as available to configure in other places unless it's enabled.
Why do you want to keep it disabled?

@stephenw10 Well, I am exaggerating probably, but would like to have firewall etc in place before letting anything (or still not letting) rest of the setup see it. But now I know that is how it should be, thanks for confirming

@furom when you enable the interface - the default firewall rules would be deny.. So other than a device getting an ip from dhcp when you enable that. Devices on this network wouldn't be able to go anywhere until you create rules to allow something.

@johnpoz No, exactly. So I'm probably overthinking it. I little stressed as I need a "safe" email client and don't want to miss anything..

@furom again other then dhcp, which you don't have to enable at all really. When you add a new interface there are no rules. so any client on that network - even if static pointing to pfsense as its gateway or dns, or trying to talk to some other dns or anything on the internet wouldn't get anywhere.
