I found out there is no available packages.

does it show that it has checked for updates of pfsense - is that working?

Yes...last check: Version information updated at Wed Aug 30 8:55:46 CDT 2023; however, after that I check again both seeing whether it loads available packages...nothing then search for FreeRadius produced nothing.

          @NollipfSense did you try this?

          https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/pkg-broken-database.html

Other option is to just go to the update settings and making sure your set to your 23.05.1 and hitting the save button

No...I'll do that later...this is the first time in my nine years of pfSense I check available packages and had this issue.

@NollipfSense see my edit about just hitting save in the update settings section. I would try that first.

                  @NollipfSense

and that answers a question I was asking myself :

                  When you see this :

                  508faa65-61f1-4ecf-81e4-7b5486e10b10-image.png

which is for me, right now : 31 minutes in the past.

When my pfSense asks "is My pfSense up to date", the info is probably locally cached.
Also : only the current pfSense version info is communicated.

The pfSense package server is probably another server / another request.

There are some command line commands available (saw them on the forum) where you can see a more verbose result.

No "help me" PM's please. Use the forum, the community will thank you.
Edit : and where are the logs ??

Yes, odd indeed...I need to be out of my office shortly so I'll do the troubleshooting later.

I see the 'dev' version also.

That tells me that even the "pfSense version test" fails.
Many forum posts exist about that subject.
Could be as simple as : "you broke DNS".

The main issue is : "pfSense can't phone home".

@stephenw10 wrote a lot about how to test drive that situation.
See also the pfSense documentation about failing (not showing up) updates.

Yeah I would agree, something maybe didn't fully update when you moved to 23.05.1?

There has been a few threads, where yeah I think @stephenw10 went through some detailed steps on correcting or even just getting info on the details of the problem.

But yeah you should see available packages, and yeah you should also be seeing that dev version is available - if your not, captain obvious here - something is not right ;) hehehe

Yup, and the CLI run: pkg-static -d update

It will probably show an error, what is it?

If it shows a signature failure send me your NDI in chat and I'll check it.

                            Steve

Well, I'm on 23.05.01 and after a simple restore. I get "no package available" now.

I'm using PPPoE, so the pkg update has been ABORTED (got that message).

Tried many things and nothing seems to work:

The Bad Request error indicates it's using an invalid client cert.

The invalid signature error from pfSense-repoc indicates it's unable to update it.

Send me your NDI in chat and I'll check it.

Well after some hiccups with not getting anything on the monitor, I finally have a cleaner installed version...available packages now normal.

                                      @NollipfSense

I've done the same test on my side.
I didn't have any issues, but saw something strange while posting here :

                                      7eb70e5e-42f8-483a-af82-1f8227a226b0-image.png

                                      and that's new : I'm reaching the forum over IPv4 .... normally, it's IPv6 for years now.
I've checked using several tools to check my IPv6 connection, like this one https://test-ipv6.com/ and Googlev6. All well.

                                      This :

                                      [23.05.1-RELEASE][root@pfSense.bhf.net]/root: pkg-static -4 -d update

finished in a fraction of a second.

                                      [23.05.1-RELEASE][root@pfSense.bhf.net]/root: pkg-static -6 -d update

takes minutes ..... (I'll wait to see if it times out, or is just very slow / bad )

pfSense (GUI etc) will prefer and use IPv6 if both are declared present ...
Probably the IPv6 between the old world and the newer one.
Can some one from the US, or Texas, confirm ?

                                      edit :
eventually, while using the "-6" option :

                                      ...
                                      Unable to update repository pfSense

                                      again, IPv4 worked well.

Btw : where is my "sometimes, it's not DNS" t-shirt ?

Yeah, same here. IPv4 works fine, IPv6 is down. This is with Aussie Broadband in Australia.
