Support for dynamic dns for the client side
-
Hello,
Does pfSense support dynamic DNS for the client side?
I will explain:
Say I have a static IP I use to manage the FW and backend server, but at times I need to be mobile, hence I cannot access from this IP (yes, I know I can VPN to that IP and then access from there, but I prefer not).If at a the relevant FW rule I could add an alias of dynamic client IP as an allowed source, and when I access to the targets (while have a suitable dynamic dns client app on my laptop), pfSense will reverse the IP to the base, fixed, dynamic FQDN it has, and if there is a match - it will allow the access.

Just add an hosts alias and enter the host name. Use this alias in the pass rule to allow access.
pfSense will resolve the host name periodically. As far as I know, the default interval for resolving is 5 minutes. -
@viragomann Nice!
Is there a place I can change this schedule check? -
