Hello fellow pfSense community, in the 1990s SSD drives were thousands of thousands of dollars only military had them.

This guy is 17 dollars. I think it will work so I can test out a clean install of 23.09 on it and use my other 32GB one I have now if It doesn't work to go back to 23.05.01 with my good snort package.

      KingSpec M.2 SATA SSD, 128GB 2242 SATA III 6Gbps Internal M.2 SSD, Ultra-Slim NGFF State Drive for Desktop/Laptop/Notebook (2242, 128GB)

      $17 dollars THAT'S A DEAL!!!

Anyone use a KingSpec in pfSense before? It should work in the 2100-MAX

@JonathanLee Not familiar with the 2100-MAX, but if it takes a SATA m.2 (as opposed to an NVME) in 2242 length it should work. Just make sure you are looking at the correct type and length. My Chinese 'soft router' takes NVMEs and yea they are getting dirt cheap. I spent a bit more because I wanted a 'name brand' with better reviews... At that time (August), I was looking for a smaller WD Blue but found a 500gig WDBlue for 27 bucks... Wanted a 256gig but they were only a few dollars cheaper then. Think about it, it's ON 24/7 and it will be nasty when it fails so try and get the best you can for the least dough...

I've used KingSpec and similar ('Silicon Power') comes to mind, in the past, but these days, if you hunt a bit you could find a name brand with better reviews for not much more... Sometimes it's luck... Woa that 500 gig I bought is 13 bucks more now WTF?? So much for holiday savings... Maybe the after holiday sales will be better??

        Current build:
        Hunsn/CWWK Pentium Gold 8505, 6x i226v 'micro firewall'
        16 gigs ram

        Using modded BIOS (enabled CSTATES)
        PFSense 2.72-RELEASE
        Enabled Intel SpeedShift
        Snort
        PFBlockerNG
        LAN and 5 VLANS

Yeah I would expect that to work.

It works great 👍👍 was able to do tests with 23.09 on a fresh firmware install with the new SSD drive and after backpedal back to my other SSD with 23.05.01 as needed for testing firmware. Great deal for use with SG2100.
