Hi everyone, now I'm resigned, because I can't find a solution to the problem, my firewall 2.7.2 is very slow when I have to reach it with IP locally.
if I try to reach remotely via DNS it is very fast.I don't understand the question.
What I know or presume :
You have a pfSense, with a LAN 19.168.1.1/24
Even better : pfSense has all default settings .... so it works ... but doesn't ?Your device has an IP like 192.168.1.10 - gateway 192.168.1.1 and DNS 192.168.1.1
Using https://192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the browser doesn't show the GUI right away ?
That might happen when DNS has been fckd up ..... so, try the default settings, they work (that's why they are default ^^ )
Or WAN is down ?Btw : for your browser :
https://192.168.1.1
and
https://pfsense.local.tld
is the same thing.
Except : the browser doesn't understand "pfsense.local.tld" at all.
It will first do a DNS request, by asking : what is the IP of this "pfsense.local.tld ", and when it got one, from its local cache, or asking 'pfsense' (192.168.1.1) it will do a
https://192.168.1.1
and even "https://" is something nice to show to humans.
The browser actually does a TCP connection to port 443 on 192.168.1.1, and it will use a TLS connection. -
@Gertjan
yes my firewall is 192.168.1.1 and I enter https://192.168.1.1:8443 via browser -
This post is deleted! -

@Gertjan
why not?
And who does DNS resolution in the firewall? -
pfSense comes with a resolver, is the process called 'unbound'.
See DNS Resolver and the next page DNS Resolver Mode.8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 and 1.1.1.1 are also resolver. You don't nee dthem, you already have a resolver.
( but they need you ^^ ) -
@Gertjan
forgive me but I don't understand, but if I delete the DNS how does pfsense help me resolve the DNS?in my current configuration dns resolver is enabled, so if I delete the dns I no longer have the name resolution..

Because pfSense has a resolver.
But I get it : (don't be offended) : you don't know what DNS is, how it works ... You better change that.
look at '10' video's and you'll understand this very important part of what we call 'Internet'.
Take the one from "Computerphile", their video's are very good. -
@Gertjan
I'm not offended, don't worry, I was convinced that these DNS in the general screens were actually used for DNS resolver!
when I delete the 3 DNS that I inserted, do I have to do anything else in addition to applying the changes? I don't know how to clear the cache of something?
Can I do tuning in some menus to optimize better?
what do you suggest me?
Now watch the video you pointed me to. -
Are all pages in the gui slow or just the dashboard?

all the menus, I've been living with this problem for months, when I was with version 2.6 I never had this problem, ever!
-
So what exactly is slow?
Are there any errors shown in the logs?
-
@stephenw10
navigation between the various menus, and these problems only when I am connected locally, for example remotely when I connect to my firewall via DNS it is very fast! -
What if you connect by FQDN locally?
-
some problem....
it is very strange -
Strange indeed. Try opening the debug console in the browser and check what it taking so long when you go to a new page.
-
@stephenw10 I tried but I don't know what I have to do, what I have to get to be able to insert the data you need here
-
For example using the Network tool in Firefox shows how long it took to open the page and which components took time:
Other browsers have similar tools.
