      Hello everyone,

I wanted to upgrade my SG-1100 from 23.09.01 to 24.03 this morning but during the system upgrade, I have got an error "pkg (3): out of space @ ".

As you can see, I only have 1,6 GB for the OS

Im using ZFS for the filesystem but the main issue is the disk space that its using :

How can I clear some space to update my pfsense ?

      Thanks for your help

@Superpaul209 You can start with deleting the ZFS snapshots (boot environments) of older install versions you are no longer using.
Press the garbage can on the lines with 22.05, 23.01 and so forth so you only have the 23.09.1 one (default).

That will delete older versions of files and logs that are no longer referenced in your current installation. It will take some time to complete cleanup in the background.

Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)

@keyser You are right, they have taken up some space. I didn't know those "32 K" would take Gigabytes of space on my disk. Is it a bug ?

After deleting 4 of the boot environments, Im having 4 GB available now but the "space" column isn't accurate at all. It's confusing, and you'd think that's not what's taking up space.

@Superpaul209 yeah, it is. Unfortunately that is how ZFS snapshots work. It only summarizes space used after the snap was taken and on files that is no longer referenced in later snapshots. In your case all snapshots are previous images of installs and the snapshot after still references Those files until the next upgrade (its a chain).
Until you start deleting you will not actually realize what kind of discspace it will be able to free up
