@GeorgePatches The Netgate Installer is still in beta. It downloads the correct (released) version on the fly.

I think they're working on a better numbering scheme for it.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

Yup we are because.... it's confusing at best!

But, yes, the Net Installer can install multiple different versions of pfSense including both CE and Plus.

As of 12:09 AM EDT this morning, it only installs Plus

Apparently, Netgate does not have development web servers to test on before going live.

Currently it defaults to CE if your NDI is not eligible for Plus. But I agree it would useful to have that as a user option.

Agree and particularly if you moved a plus license and want to rebuild the previous unit for testing. As license has been moved I should only qualify for CE.

Fortunately I have previous 2.7.2 already downloaded.

@GeorgePatches I would not going to think 1 cases that could happen...technology doesn't have honor.

                        1. U have a system down and need to resinstall pfsense CE and....the netgate download portal for any reason won't answer, is down, etc, etc... I cannot claim...my system is down...

                        I see the future...

Just a few questions: What if the pfsense IS the access to internet? And the access is made via PPPOE?
I guess there is still some work to do ...

                          Just my 2 cents,

I didn't get it yet, sorry for this.
Is there no official way to download CE images without registration from now on?

I hope the installer do not try to connect in a endless loop in case I have any typo in my credentials...

Mmm, what would be much nicer here is if you can put a config on the installer image and the installer uses the WAN config from that to connect out. Then restores the config once installed.
That's one of the options we are looking at.

That sounds much better to me.

Yup. Also, using the interface assignment configured in the installer as the default in the resulting install would be nice. Assuming no config is restored.

@stephenw10 I did have that issue. I setup my interface IP range in the net installer and it just ignored it. Next version maybe.
