Just installed pfsense CE 2.7.2 on a mini PC today, to replace a failed SG-1100.
      https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08HVQQ498?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
(boots and runs SO much faster than the SG-1100)

Also seeing the Package Manager not working, with 3 entries for each package.

@mrneutron was it the offline installer or the online? just curious if im about to waste some effort. ie, the one from the "store" or the one from a mirror that has not been flushed yet?

A friend shared the 2.7.2 .img file (pfSense-CE-memstick-2.7.2-RELEASE-amd64.img) that he downloaded back in December 2023, when it was released.
I wrote that .img file to a USB flash drive using Rufus and loaded up the mini PC from scratch.

@f89y24h4 I can at least confirm it's the offline installer, so that's a nice find to put in our internal repo.

@Dobby_ correct, but it's a new fangled online installer, which fails to install because the repo is borked. The old offline version installs fine, but the repo is still borked so you can't install packages.

@f89y24h4 I’m told the repo issue should be fixed…

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

Thank you for the replies. They include the link to the images we used to see, which is very helpful, and hopefully this will not go away any time soon. I also see the multiple (three) packages of the same kind. I rebooted but problem stays. I will catch up on the other responses and linked posts tomorrow. Cheers.

And when you open it, the file name includes pfsense+ and BETA2, or similar. I do not like online installers, it should be offline.

Me too, if the internet is broken or plain not available where you must install
it is the best to take an image and push it onto an usb stick for installation.

FWIW Netgate has posted they’re going to change the numbering scheme. The installer is beta for a few months now. It offers a choice of versions to install.
