I just bought an unopened SG-3100. I know it's not officially supported anymore, but since I can install pfSense on virtually anything, there surely must be a way to install it on an SG-3100 in 2024 as well, right?
I found several forum posts suggesting to just download the image and flash it onto a USB stick and then plug that into the SG-3100 and a bunch of other posts saying "contact the support", but why would I contact support for a device that is not officially supported anymore?

Trying to just download the image, I'm not getting anywhere. There are options for AMD64, VM and AARCH64 (SG-1100/SG-2100) and I don't see how any of those would work on an a device that is probably based on 32bit armv7.

So how can I solve this now?

The reason that I want to reinstall over update is that I'm stuck in a boot loop:

@NopIt Open a ticket at go.netgate.com and request the firmware.
I'm managing one for a friend and it is working perfectly with 24.03.

There is a problem with states count in firewall rules, and some applications are missing, I think it is only squid and snort/suricata.

So, if you don't use those, just request the latest firmware there in the TAC.

dead on arrival, nowhere to be found.

Yup, just request the recovery image.

That's a UFS filesystem issue though. You may be able to recover from it with a manual filesystem check:

@NopIt just to add on, firmware access and TAC Lite is free for Netgate hardware.

            https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/sg-3100/reinstall-pfsense.html

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@SteveITS I tried contacting support, but I never got an answer. I also never received any confirmation that would indicate that my support request was even submitted successfully. I tried submitting from multiple devices.

Oh that’s weird. Spam filter? Usually image requests are minutes not hours.

@SteveITS I finally figured it out. The submit-request was blocked by the browser. I had to disable the Enhanced Tracking Protection that is built into Firefox:

Huh, that's odd. That's just the build-in tracking not some plugin?

@stephenw10 That's built-in and I never had any issues with it on any other site:
