I have a netgate 4100-s which the emmc failed and was no longer detectable along with booting issues , until I managed to rescue it through installing new ssd .

I installed the latest pfsense version and boot looks ok apart from the low priority issue of 15 seconds delay & orange light when connecting the power it start the post and troubleshoots the bootable media which eventually boot to pfsense .

the main problem I faced and tried multiple solutions I found online i the reboot from GUI or CLI will hang & wont come back until force shutdown power recycle , its not just after pfsense boots as seems happens during boot order menu when hinting ESC to reboot .

the solutions I tried so far :
      1- add emmc disable & acpi.0.disabled hints in /boot/loader.conf.local / laoder
      2- add acpi.disable_on_reboot lines

I'v red online and here that some users manged to resolve many issues by removing the emmc itself but this on is the last thing thinking of seeing the issue most likely a bug and bios should already ignore emmc if an ssd is there .

below are the complete logs FYR if someone can guide me further might I missed something .
      Thanks .

      Complete boot here long log

Does it only do this at warm reboot? If you shutdown then power up with the PWR button does it start normally?

If you hit F2 to see the boot variables list can remove everything except the NVMe? Or manually choose to boot the NVMe device there?

@stephenw10 Yes I can remove everything , and can boot manually or auto if nvme is in the top

When I have had this happen, Netgate support had me back it up, reinstall the pfsense+ image, and then load the backup. Most likely due to issues with the OS, corruption, something like that. In any case reinstalling the OS was the fix for me.

I'm not aware of anything specific that could present like this a reinstall would fix but it's definitely worth trying.

Mmm, I don't think that is the same issue. Your device is rebooting but fails to find a boot device. That bug refers to a failure mode where it never tries to reboot after shuting down. Though it's clearly similar.
