6 NIC Router platform

any chance to plug in a normal PCI card ?
or some solution with this specs where I can ? -
Hmmm…something doesn't add up ???
240 millimeters = 9.4488189 inches
9.4488189 x 2 = 18.8976378
18.8976378 < 19
I know I suck at math, but how exactly does it not fit in your standard 19" rack? :P
Unless your 19" rack isn't 19". What does that make it then? :D
I've seen a lot of devices which arn't exactly 19" on the head. The only thing required are the mounting arms, heck I've seen 12" wide devices mount in a 1U setup with some long arms….this is typically found smaller server rooms(less than 100 servers).
BTW, the device looks good. Request for on your site have the USD prices also:)

I was of the impression that he means the box is too big, not too small. That's what ears are for, to bridge the width gap. If alll I have to do is bend and drill some ears, this will work. If they're too wide, it's a no-go.

19" refers to the overall width including the vertical rack strip with the square holes in it.
Unfortunately 2 of these boxes will not fit between the vertical rack strips in our rack.
Nick.

You're right, I measured. 17 1/4 is realy what is available, not 19".
Thanks. Any chance of ears anyway? ;D

There is a currency selection box, at the bottom left of the page.
We now have new stock of this FX5620 unit, and we have contributed one to the project, which has been sent to sullrich.

Hello
A few question about this product.
1. I currently live in Sweden, Can I still order it ?
2. Witch NIC cards are you using in this product ?
3. I notice that you use the case as a heastsink, how hot get the top of the case ?
4. Are you able to bundle this product with a Wireless mini pci card and pfSense before shipping,
Having a "out of the box" router with wireless and pfsense would ease the installation of many user.
5. In Sweden, We use European adapter, will the power adapter that came with this product work in Sewden ? ,I noticed that you also sell European C5 Power Lead, will that cable work with the power adapter ?/Thanks

Some of the info you ask is at their page (nic types):

* 1 x 10/100/1000 Realtek 8169For the rest I think you get the fastes reply by mailing LinITX directly.

Does the Realtek 8139 and Realtek 8169 support VLAN?
Cheers,
Eskild -
Good question.
Sullrich, you get one of these boxes, Dose NICS in this box support VLAN ?

the rl(4) driver is listed as supporting VLAN's.
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=vlan&manpath=FreeBSD+6.0-REL
you might wish to read this page also (look at the "BUGS" section)

Yep, CMB tells me that it's fully workable. Enjoy!

sullrich,
I get this box today and have a small question.
When I "Halt system" through WEB or cmd, it dosn't power off the router, do you know why and how can I add this "future" ? -
I don't know this box (unfortunately, anybody wants to donate one? ;D ) but I had a similiar problem with the nexcom 1041c. For the nexcom it was a bios setting (setting PSU type from AT to ATX). If this box has powersaving settings in the bios check if you find something there.

According to LiniTX they use 5 x RTL8100C and 1 x RTL81105-32 and some investigation on
the Realtek homepage the RTL8100C does not (at least not the specs) indicate that it
supports 801.2Q VLAN tagging (regardless if the driver does).
(only RTL8139C(L)+ seems to have 801.2Q)The 81105-32 seams to have the VLAN tagging as far as I could see.
Could someone once in for all confirm if all ports supports 801.2Q VLAN or only the Gigabit port ?
Best regards

Just got my box yesterday, and it's set up and running an outbound load-balanced dual wan…much better than using a full PC in the simple environment I'm running it in and allows me to trim down a whole raft of other hardware I was using. pfSense is awesome and the plans for the future like failover will really be amazing. Thanks to the pfSense developers and for this great hardware too!
I had two issues with this hardware specifically. First, I destroyed a 2.5" hard drive by plugging the IDE cable in upside down. I know, it was a bone-headed move but so others don't do what I did...take a careful note of which pin on your drive is pin 1. Laptop hard drives don't handle +5v on the wrong pin very well.
Second issue deals with how one gets pfSense on the device. Since I had destroyed the hdd, I had to move to using the embedded image. Fortunately the gentleman from hacom had posted a BETA 3 image for the secondary master IDE that worked well with this device too. But I'm not sure how I can make builds like this myself in the future from the standard CD or embedded builds. How do you go from a standard embedded build to the one he did? And anyway, those who are using an hdd with these devices, how did you install pfSense given that there's no CDROM? What's the upgrade path when 1.0 or 1.1 comes out for this type of setup?
I have my wireless mini-PCI in there too, but no antenna yet. Once that comes in I'll report any issues that come up...the card appears to be detected and set up as an interface fine so far though.
Sorry I'm still a FreeBSD newb, but hope to improve and help...

I have purchased 2 units of this hardware, and I have problems installing pfSense the full version on a 2,5'' HDD. The problems are about UDMA, and it seems to be the 44 pin cable because I've used other cable (the one which is included in a Soekris hard disk kit) and pfSense installed with no problem. The big problem is that the Soekris cable is only 1cm long.
Has anyone installed pfSense full version in the FX5620?
-
I'm looking for an inexpensive 4+ NIC router that can boot pfSense from Compact Flash. The system above looks good, but is overkill and too expensive for my current project. Any recommendations? Thanks, Pete.

Yep. What about a Zoé with an addition sis nic?
