OpenNTPD - Doesn't seem to do much good?
-
Hi,
I installed the OpenNTPD package so I can have a reliable time source for my network, which is 90% Windows machines. It seems the package is not right one for my purpose? I tried using http://www.keir.net/neutron.html to test if I can get the time from the FW. The OpenNTPD package should listen on the LAN, right? So I did a search on why it's not working and it seems there are two ways to sync your time. NTP, which is very reliable (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_Time_Protocol) and DAYTIME (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DAYTIME) which is basically what Windows is using and also Neutron - basically all the simple time sync packages for Windows.
Is my assumption correct - the package does not support DAYTIME?

its a OPEN sourche NTP Demon server
the name tells you watt you want to nowbutt windows can work with ntp servers
on the time tab in windows put the lanipadress of youre pfsense server
and windows will use youre openntpd demon for its clock settings -
