      Ok,

For now I know it runs on only ONE CPU.

      dmesg | grep cpu

      cpu0: <acpi cpu="">on acpi0

Why do I see everywhere that People run it on SMP boxes ?</acpi>

I don't know.  Mine runs a SMP box, and uses 2 CPUs

I have still found no reason for this ONE CPU install.

I have installed the 1.2BETA1 version and upgraded directly to the latest snapshot from 06-06-2007.

Proper SMP setups in pfsense will show 2 cpus (or more).  Someone not too long ago (about 5 week) had the same issue you were having.  If I can ask, is your machine a clone or a brand-name server like Compaq?  In the previous scenario, the user had a Compaq and had to update his firmware.  Once done, both cpu's were detected.  Maybe the same will apply to you.

The link to the thread from last month:

              Good luck!

                Thanks !

I have 2 the same compaqs with the same BIOS, I just checked and one system has 2CPU's detected and one system just one.

The system with 2 CPU's detected has failed on a reboot so I will check this today evening and update that one directly to the latest version from yesterday because SSH was reachable but HTTPS didn't anymore and firewall-rules that allowed connection were actually blocking them… so HTTPS did not work.

I hope this is also solved in the latest version.

The system that had 2 CPU's listed with "dmesg | grep cpu"  now has also listed only one CPU.

I don't get it why this happens when the BIOS shows 2 CPU's.

Still the same issue with 1.2 RC1

Can it be that this is a FreeBSD + Compaq Hardware Issue ?
