Dual: Static and PPPoe
-
Is it possible to configure a dual WAN configuration of:
- ADSL router in bridge mode (public IP assigned by ISP), the router has its own internal IP eg 192.168.1.1
- Ethernet connection from a Wireless Router in WISP mode (NAT on the device), IP eg 192.168.2.1
Will Embedded version 1.0.1 be enough or do I have to upgrade to 1.2 ?
Best regards,
Fishrman -
yes and yes (but 1.2 fixes a lot and is better for loadbalancing)

Thank you very much for such a fast reply.
I have an embedded installation @ CF 512MB card. Can I update it through firmware upload and pointing to pfsense.img out of pfSense-1.2-RC2-Embedded.img.gz ??
Will the settings be preserved? -
Configuration settings are preserved after a firmware update.

Do not upgrade embedded right now, it will almost certainly blow up spectacularly (it was broken post-RC1, we'll have it fixed by next RC). What you're wanting to do is certainly possible, but don't use 1.0.1 as there are a ton of multi WAN bugs in it that are long fixed.

Thank you very much for that warning… then I will be waiting for the next version!!

What cmb meant is: dont update it with the update-file over the GUI.
You still can download the fresh-install-img-file and reflash directly to the new version without a problem. -
I see… but I'm not in a hurry with that balancing, so If there a chance that I can do it through the GUI in the next version, then I will wait. I just don't have such an easy access to that PC running PFSense, so I prefer the method with not having to take the flash card out of that PC. I would also prefer having my settings left intact after upgrade.
Nevertheless thank you very much.
