Another vote for this feature :)

The DNS-O-MATIC API is very simple. It's just a properly formatted HTTP GET request preferably sent over SSL. Since pfSense already has the IP address change detection, it looks like it basically comes down to adding the relevant GUI options.

DNS-o-matic just uses https requests to update the account you have, and then it updates the various dynamic dns registars. We currently use ez-ipupdate to update dynamic dns entries, but this program does not support dns-o-matic. However, I believe I can implement dns-o-matic with simple https requests. After doing some investigation, this should be doable. I need this functionality too so I am going to look into implementing it. This will be an easy change to support dns-o-matic, but I will try to build in the ability to select which IP/interface to update to which host. No eta on this as my plate with other life issues is kinda full, but I definitely want to get this feature in pfsense.

I have dual wan so I get two wan IPs. Would be nice to update the two IPs instead of only supporting one currently in PFSENSE. Cheers!

That should not be a problem

We no longer use ez-ipupdate.  We use a php solution.  Look in /etc/inc/dyndns.class

Yea I just noticed that earlier. Basically about the same thing that will need to be done to support dns-o-matic. In this case it will be super easy.

Can someone please give me a hint what DNS-O-MATIC is about compared to a DynDns service?
                          I don't get it.

DNs-o-matic allows you to update multiple dns records spread out across multiple dynamic dns registrars (dyndns.com, etc) through their website. Check out dnsomatic.com for more information.

John from OpenDNS here. We operate DNS-O-Matic… would love to see support added to pfSense and make sure everyone knows about that option. We'll tell everyone we can.  :)

Let me know if there are questions I can help with.

Support for this will appear in 1.3.  Thanks for stopping by! :)

Is there any way this can make it into 1.2?

I don't want to sound critical, but 1.3 seems like a long way off.

                                      Nope.

1.2 is featue frozen only hunting down the last issues.
New features will be added to 1.3 and above.
