We no longer use ez-ipupdate.  We use a php solution.  Look in /etc/inc/dyndns.class

Yea I just noticed that earlier. Basically about the same thing that will need to be done to support dns-o-matic. In this case it will be super easy.

Can someone please give me a hint what DNS-O-MATIC is about compared to a DynDns service?
            I don't get it.

DNs-o-matic allows you to update multiple dns records spread out across multiple dynamic dns registrars (dyndns.com, etc) through their website. Check out dnsomatic.com for more information.

John from OpenDNS here. We operate DNS-O-Matic… would love to see support added to pfSense and make sure everyone knows about that option. We'll tell everyone we can.  :)

Let me know if there are questions I can help with.

Support for this will appear in 1.3.  Thanks for stopping by! :)

Is there any way this can make it into 1.2?

I don't want to sound critical, but 1.3 seems like a long way off.

                        Nope.

1.2 is featue frozen only hunting down the last issues.
New features will be added to 1.3 and above.
