        How did you change it?
Password changes must be done via the webgui otherwise things can get out of sync. Change it again via the webgui and you should be able to ssh on that account.

Did you change it originally using passwd at the command line?

            Steve

I'm asking if that's how you tried to change it the first time because using passwd is not valid in pfSense.

                Steve

Reseting the password should not change any other configuration.

                    Can you login as root?

                    Steve

The admin and root accounts are effectively the same in pfSense, they should have the same password.
I'm not entirely sure what you have done. You are still able to login as root, presumably using the old password, have you tried the old password with the admin account?
