(New / Fixed) Widescreen Package Update
-
Since I thought initially this was for 2.0.x I installed it on a few I have around. What Ive found is that if Ive had the original widescreen package on a box before (but uninstalled) things work fine. If not then I seem to have issues. (Actually one I tried to install over the widescreen package and that didn't so so well until I uninstalled that package then worked fine. 2nd had the package then uninstalled before I tried, works fine. third never had the package and didn't do so well.) Forth same as third before went to 2.1…
I have it on two boxes now with 2.1 RC and everything (this widescreen (manual install)) is great so far. :)
Some others going to 2.1 today and will add it later.
I think this is my issue.
I dont have the original widescreen pkg installed on my 2.0.3 and is probably why is not working..Any ideas where I can get the original?
TIA

not trying to hijack this thread. But if your running 2.1 you can try this theme: http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,48140.msg339507.html#msg339507
It should do exactly the same as this package ie add extra columns.I tried to patch it to work for 2.0.3 but it looks like to much work. 2.1 is not far away so I gave up (sorry Supermule). So if your on 2.0.3 stick with this patch. If someone wants to package it up they can.
I'm not sure if it will work with this package installed as they may conflict.

Here is a widescreen package that works on 2.0.3, it's a modification of the original package for 1.2.3 with updated menu (modify file fbegin.inc to match 2.0.3) and changes on all.css (depending on your screen size it's possible that I messed up the footer, but at least on full HD screen it looks good with up to 5 columns)
Fixed :
- Graph where on to of the menu bar
- Increase usable space from 80% to 90%
- Menu is in line with 2.0.3
- Fixed footer (somewhat)
The attachement is a zip file, bt I had to put the .jpg extension as I'm not allowed to attach zip file.

Should I assume it's working well for you ? -

Tested and working beautifully on 2.0.3!
Can we make something that installs this package automagically? :)

I've created a simple method to install this widescreen package on pfSense 2.0.3 (x86 or amd64), all info on the following link:

Should I assume it's working well for you ?Initially it was trying to pack 4 columns into the old space… refreshes didn't work but a reboot did. Looks great and the alternative repository made installation very smooth.
Thank you!I'd offered to pay a bounty and that still stands. Is this one totally your's or an extension of Rich's work? How/who does the bounty go to? Or should I just send it to Jim and Chris?

This is my work based on the previous widescreen 0.2 that was built for 1.2.3, and somewhat working on 2.0 (some menu entry where missing, display bug). I didn't use the work of Rich as his package works only on he 2.1 distrib. and there is too much changes on the GUI from 2.0 to 2.1.
Bounty $ will be greatly appreciated to keep the repository server up for the next years to come.

I want to be in that pool as well! Let me know of bank coordinates or if you prefer Western Union and how you want it.

Got it… and sent. Thank you again for your efforts not only on the package but the deployment scheme as well.
I'm seeing one small anomaly where the screen graphics don't align in the bottom right corner. But I've got what I need so I don't care if it can or will be fixed, just wanted to let you know.
Thanks,

@Ramosel
Thank you, and regarding the footer display issue in the right corner, this is listed in the package description: - Fixed footer (somewhat).
I've seen the issue, but already spent 2 hours trying to fix it, without success, so I gave up as it is not really a show stopper.Fred

Where do you see that?

Where do you see that?
bottom right hand corner where the graphics line meets the copyright footer. Like he said, no biggie just an anomaly.
