      Good day,
Just installed HAVP Antivirus HTTP proxy Service as a stand alone (No squid) but I cannot get the service to start. I am running the latest Pfsense 2,2 RC. Here are my settings:

      Proxy settings tab:
      1 - Enabled
      2- Proxy Mode - Standard
      3 - Interface - Lan
      4 - Port - 3125
      5 - Enable RAM Disk
      6 - Scan broken executables

All other proxy settings are default

      Settings Tab

Chose every 12 hours and chose my country server

      ON the General Tab:

      • No services started and trying to manually start does nothing
      • No Antivirus Database info

Not sure if I am missing something…...

It's happening to me as well. I did reinstall the HAVP package and the end result was the same. It wouldn't start. I noticed some errors in the log about some scripts that do not exist. Maybe the install wasn't successful?

Login to SSH to pfSense machine, switch to console ("8" menu) and execute:```
          havp.sh start

Below my output. just upgraded to v2.2 , everything was working before, but not anymore

            [2.2-RELEASE][admin@<hostname removed="">]/usr/local/etc/havp: /usr/local/etc/rc.d/havp.sh start
            Configuration is not edited!
            You must delete REMOVETHISLINE option.
            Review the configuration carefully. :)
            Exiting..
            [2.2-RELEASE][admin@<hostname removed="">]/usr/local/etc/havp: grep -r REMOVETHISLINE /usr/local/etc/

Try squid3 instead, it has clamav integration woking fine.

I have tried HVAP several times on the 2.2 release candidates going back as far as December.  It has never worked for me.  On 2.1 it was fine.  It seems like the install script needs some attention because it appears to be looking for files in the wrong place. I am surprised that since this has been going on so long that it was not fixed before 2.2 was released.  It would be most appreciated if somebody could take a look at this and make it work again. I would rather not run a proxy server just to scan for viruses.

The point is that you can't search for virus in https using havp but squid can.

IMHO, havp is old and deprecated.

I am very new to Pfsense and I also just upgraded from 2.1.5 to 2.2 and HAVP service would not start.

Also my internet connection was very spotty (going up and down) and i could not find any obvious errors in the system logs.
So I uninstalled the HAVP package, and now internet access is working fine.
Looking at a few of the posts here it seems that HAVP is no longer recommended because it does not scan https connections so I haven't reinstalled.

Is there a updated list as to the packages that are depreciated that are not recommended with V2.2?

                      Many thanks.

even that is not working. Squid by itself is working, but when I activate the ClamAV integration, I always get a protocol error back when trying to go to some websites

What version are you using?  I386 or amd64?
When you active antivirus,  you have to wait  the first virus database(freshclam)  run to finish and  then stop and start  both squid and c-icap service. I've posted a step by step instructions for squid and antivirus for pfSense 2.2.

amd64 on AMD G-T40E . got it working now, deinstalled everything, reinstalled again, went through all gui settings again, saved all those tabs (again) , restarted everything manually and now it's working. the Squid with ICAP at least. giving up on HAV for the moment.

yeah followed that one, although I did not have to set the settings again, because even when uninstalling, it retains the settings., but going through every tab and saving on that tab again and restarting everything did solve the issue

Confirm, also on my pfsense, after upgrade to 2.2 (amd64), havp doesn't start. I have tried to remove and reinstall but without success.

But what is the solution to this problem
