How did the watchdog timer appeal to you? What did you plan to do with it?
A lot of hardware has a watchdog timer of some sort, there is one built into most Intel ICH chips for example. However it requires configuring some how and often that isn't available in the BIOS setup. Also it requires some OS side interaction to do anything useful.Steve

I was hoping it would be usable to reboot a hung system without operator intervention.

Is that a problem for you? If your box keeps crashing it's probably better to find the cause of that. ;)
However I'm sure you could do this. You might need support in the ICH watchdog driver:

These seem loaded with stuff that's not useful for a firewall host. Looks like they'd be better suited to media type applications.
Now, if Intel did a model with, say, three or four network ports, instead of dual Display Ports, Audio and six USBs.
Seems the PCIe x4 port is for "custom" solutions too.
I wish I could justify one of those Rangeley boards from supermicro.

OK, I left myself open for that :) I probably would buy from Netgate but I'm sort of committed to ESXi. (At least until VMware abandons those of us who use the ESXi free edition.)
The justification (to myself - no 'CFO' here) fails when I look at how much I have invested on IT 'stuff' during the past year :(
Believe me, the little guy - the one with the horns - keeps whispering all sorts of encouragement but the one with the halo still says "No, you got enough stuff and too little time to play with it anyway".

I was giving this some extra thoughts, as your success in finding a distribution channel in Europe could be beneficial for many here. (including me)
Most probably you did your homework, and google'd a bit around as well. So chances are slim I will bring anything new.
Anyway, I won't pretend to be the business specialist here 8), but maybe if you elaborate a bit on what you want/need in such partner, those who have a business and/or might be interested could jump on-topic?
