We trashed this install and went back to 2.1.5. We are finding that version much more stable. I made this post for the benefit of others.

There is nothing broken on the 2.2 DNS.

In every instance that someone had a serious DNS issue, a bit of digging (No pun intended) has found that their configuration wasn't quite right.

If the config isn't right then it should not be fixed by restarting the service should it?

No - Reboots don't fix bad configurations.  Configuring correctly fixes bad configuration.

When you want to talk about your current configuration and how to fix it on 2.2, people will help.

Unless it's so bad it loads a backup. And that digging pun was unforgivable.  ;)

Benefit of others?  So other people with layer 8 issues like yours?  So no errors in the log, showing your config would be a simple screenshot taking 2 seconds..  But your helping others by telling them hey if dns doesn't work exactly how you think it should work go back to 2.1.5??  Yeah that is going to help thousands I think
