How do I delete the information on the hard disk ?
-
I have the following packages installed
squidGuard
squid
snort
havpi have 20 giga hdd on 70 Percent (Disk usage)
How can I empty the hard disk -
Not sure what's happening there, but I'm using a 40 GB drive and only sitting at 2% usage.
-
Check the cache size and log size of all your packages.
-
Check the log size on PFsense: Status -> System logs -> Settings tab
there just isn't much else writing to disc, so beyond checking the above I don't think there is much else to do. I would NOT recommend trying to manually reclaim space in the shell… that's just a disaster waiting to happen.
My guess is most of that space is either your squid cache or you modified the default PFsense log size, but if checking the above does not reclaim any space, honestly I would just backup your config and restore it on a bigger drive.

assuming when you set up squid you didn't do something crazy, like tell it to use 30GB fro cache, and that you set it up correctly, it shouldn't outgrow your drive. I would not worry if its 70% full.

I think it's because squidGuard
For two years
It was about 16 percentOnly after I installed squidGuard
A month ago, maybe a little lessIt started to fill

Your squid config will fill up to 10GB on its own and then should start to recycle space.
I wouldn't worry about it unless it actually fills 100% and crashes.
Otherwise, let it run.
-
But that was a long time on 16 percent
It started to fill
Only after I installed squidGuard
So until now it was not working right ? -
Probably - If you are sending most of your traffic through squid, it will fill a 10GB cache pretty quick.
I would imagine that you only just started using that cache recently.

What about your SquidGuard logs?

You have log rotation selected but is it working as expected? Check the log file size in /var/squidguard.
Steve

how do i do that ?
i know how to sshbut how do i know the size of the file or is name ?
-
Connect to the console with SSH, go to the /var/squidguard directory and list the files with their size using, for example, 'ls -lhS'.

I really am not seeing the issue here. If you don't like seeing a high percentage of disk usage on a 20GB pfsense install, don't allocate 10GB to squid.
Not that your current setting are bad. They are fine. But if it makes you happy to not utilize 50% of your disk space, just set the squid for 50000 instead of 10000.
My squid installs ALWAYS filled the entire cache, and as far as I know, thats what it should be doing. I think you are worried over nothing.

It may be works correctly
It just seems odd to me
It was a long time about 16 to 20 percent
And within two weeks jumped to 60 percent
I'm not going to change it
I wanted to know why Out of curiosityIf it works correctly now
It means that it did not work correctly beforego to the /var/squidguard
/var/squidguard: Command not found.

I think I managed
This command i did in the library /var/[2.1.5-RELEASE][admin@home.plex]/var(6): ls -lhS total 50 drwxr-xr-x 18 root wheel 1.0k Mar 9 14:55 db drwxr-xr-x 6 root wheel 1.0k Mar 16 20:06 log drwxr-xr-x 6 root wheel 1.0k Mar 5 18:42 run drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 account drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 at drwxr-x--- 2 root audit 512B Aug 25 2014 audit drwxr-x--- 2 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 backups drwxr-x--- 2 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 crash drwxr-x--- 3 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 cron drwxr-xr-x 8 root wheel 512B Feb 3 15:44 dhcpd dr-xr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512B Feb 3 15:39 empty drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 512B Mar 15 22:47 etc drwxrwxr-x 2 root games 512B Aug 25 2014 games drwx------ 2 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 heimdal drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512B Feb 3 15:40 installer_logs drwxrwxr-x 2 root mail 512B Feb 20 10:54 mail drwxr-xr-x 2 daemon wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 msgs drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 named drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 preserve drwxrwxr-x 2 root daemon 512B Aug 25 2014 rwho drwxr-xr-x 7 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 spool drwxr-xr-x 5 proxy proxy 512B Feb 3 16:00 squid drwxr-xr-x 3 root wheel 512B Feb 27 19:08 squidGuard drwxrwxrwt 5 root wheel 512B Mar 16 20:11 tmp drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512B Aug 25 2014 yp

Yeah, layer 8 error…
cd /var/squidGuard/
-
Where did the "var" go?
-
At first I did
cd /var/squidGuard/
it give me this
/var/squidguard: Command not found.
so i try this
cd /var/
and then i try```
cd /squidGuard/it didnt work So I wrote down the command in the folder /var/
ls -lhS
Very strange I tried this order exactly it did not work before Here is outcome for ls -lhS in /var/squidGuard/
total 2
drwxr-xr-x 2 proxy proxy 512B Mar 16 00:00 log -
At first I did
cd /var/squidGuard/
it give me this
/var/squidguard: Command not found.
Impossible. And kindly note that the filesystem is case sensitive. /var/squidGuard is NOT the same thing like /var/squidguard
-
Probably that's why it did not work
In your latest post
I just copied the command I pasted into the terminal
Not like before
