      Hardware/Software: PFSENSE 2.2.2 Nano Serial | Boot 8.1 | Firebox X1250e CORE with UDMA 4GB CF Sandisk

      Getting the famous DMA Error.

      Tried the following flags:

      1: "set hint.ata.0.mode=PIO4
      boot"

      set hint.ata.0.mode=PIO4
            boot

      https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=20095.msg480824#msg480824

      2:  set hw.ata.atapi_dma="1"
          set hw.ata.ata_dma="1"
          set hw.ata.wc="1"
          boot

      Forgot source

I also tried to enable and disable DMA within the BIOS, changed Modes and tried Auto on the CF Card instead of Manual/CHS/Head 2.

Need some help I am scratching my head. Is it that the Sandisk is not compatible?
      Help would be most appreciated.

The first line you tried should allow you to get past that. You have a set of speech marks in there that shouln't be, probably just a typo.
Setting the DMA options in the BIOS doesn't prevent that error. Leave them at the defaults unless you have a good reason not to.

The speech marks were added when I posted the code and did not continue with those as the second code has the "1" on it. I will set everything default and try this once more. When you say default are you referring to setting the CF to auto as well?

Changed BIOS to "Optimized Defaults" SAVE/EXIT

This is the resulting code, I left it running for a while and it went to "MOUNTROOT"
