Once its up and running I will be using pfSense as a fw/router on a 20Mb WAN connection, I just wanted peoples opinions on whether well see any performance increase over your usual £50 branded router?

    pfSense box specs:

    1.6ghz Core Duo
    1gb Ram

Sorry if its a bit general, not looking for any guarantees just opinions..

It will also depend on your network cards (and what else you run on the pfSense box), however I'd  expect better throughput with any half decent NIC than you'd get from a cheap router.

Thanks for the reply, the pfSense box is in place now ;)

I havent tested it really but it does seem fast, am also getting a solid 5ms latency when playing CSS too! Cant complain at that :)
