I don't know about the boards, but if you do go with that case they have a version that has the power supply included:

        @AR15USR:

Yes you are right, but I am thinking then together with the chosen CPU and Board it will be getting to hot inside
and termal problems will be there then in.

        • Dual Intel® GbE LAN with cFosSpeed Internet Accelerator Software

I would ask before buying if that can be turned out in the BIOS if it makes problems.

        1 x Intel I219V (Gigabit LAN PHY 10/100/1000 Mb/s)

        Is supported since version 2.3

        1 x Realtek RTL8111H (PCIE x1 Gigabit LAN 10/100/1000 Mb/s)

I don´t know anything about the supprt of this cards.

To be clear and talking clear text here it would better in my eyes to settle on another platform what is really
100% surely supported by pfSense and also running fine with more then the integrated WiFI solution that
is not supported in pfSense now (WiFi ac) and with to new chip sets. Only my opinion but truly and frankly!
A friend of me was assemble also a PC to run pfSense on it.

        • ASUS Q87T, mainboard ~120 € (BIOS update must be done to the latest available one)

        • CPU support
          Intel® Core™ i7 (Haswell), Intel® Core™ i5 (Haswell), Intel® Core™ i3 (Haswell),
          Intel® Pentium G (Haswell), Intel® Celeron G (Haswell), Intel® Xeon E3 v3 (Haswell)

        • Intel Core i3-4170 with AES-NI any cheap to get the hands on for ~110 € new and boxed with a cooler
(or refurbished and used for cheap and then with a new cooler too on top)

        • RAM support S0-DIMM DDR3-1600 max. 16 GB , 2 x 4 GB DDR3-1600MHz ~30 €

        • mSATA slot full lenght -  "Crucial M500 SSD 120GB, mSATA 6Gb/s (CT120M500SSD3)"  ~75 €

        • miniPCIe slot half length WiFi Atheros AR9280 new on eBay ~20 €

        • Intel Ethernet Server Adapter I350-T4 bulk ~99 € refurbished on eBay

        • Noctua NH-L9i, CPU-Kühler ~30 €

You can easily choose other parts, but the board and the mSATA plus the WiFi card will
be well supported under pfSense and running fine. So there will be enough space to
adjust this with a viewing eyes on the budget, but it is 100% supported!!!!!

Together with your case and PSU you would be built a really pfSense bomb @3,7GHz
for the same or nearly the same price but also you gets the abillity to upgrade and update
this appliance according to newer standards (WiFI) or other NICs like a two port one or a
bigger storage drives (mSATA 240 GB or 480 GB), but with the focus not to take to much
        electric power.

Why don't you consider the Supermicro C2758 ITX motherboard? onboard 4 x Intel LAN, and the processing power is definitely higher compared with G4400 (under multithreaded environment), less heat, less power consumption, solid for mission critical applications as well as you can build it in a small form factor. If you don't do something like HAVP, you can get a even cheaper C2558 and do the job.

Realtek 8111 series chip is working under pfSense 2.3, but as I saw in other forum, the default stock firmware /driver coming along with FreeBSD is no good, you probably will see at most 700Mbps throughput by using this chip.

Or if you insist on using Pentium G4400 or something similar, better look for server mobo like Asrock E3C236D2I.

Using 2x4GB dual channel probably a better idea.

BTW, what is the system requirement? Pentium G4400 is also not a very powerful processor, going for embedded one would be a better idea since you can save space, and reduce heat….

I am posting for a friend who will is very close to getting a job abroad where gigabit Internet is common.

So which embedded one is recommended?
