0 UPLOAD speed when Changing my default gateway to PF Sense
-
Hi I'm new in firewall configuration using PF Sense.
I'm done configuring my PF Sense with basic rules. When I connect my machine to PF Sense, the download speed seems fine but it has 0 upload speed.
can you help me what are the possible cause of this issue?PF Sense LAN IP
IP: 192.168.3.1
subnet: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.3.254Computer's IP
IP: 192.168.3.55
subnet: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.3.1I tried to disabled my rules created so that PF Sense will allow all the traffic.
But same problem. -
you (generally) don't specify a gateway on the pfsense's lan interface.
if your lan & wan interface run on the same subnet: shit won't work
-
I'm sorry. I quit new in the field of firewall configuration.
what did you mean same subnet?LAN
IP: 192.168.3.1
subnet: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.3.254WAN
IP: 192.168.0.131
subnet: 255.255.255.0
default gateway: 192.168.3.254do you mean , i need to change my subnet mask?

don't specify a gateway on the pfsense's lan interface.
you mean i will put blank in the LAN IP?

I already did your suggestion but same problem occur,
Do i need to restart the PF Sense? -
No, you don't need to restart.
You generally cannot download without some upload so your testing is probably flawed somehow.
For such basic questions you might get better results posting in the forum for your native language.

I'm sorry for that.
I test my upload speed on http://www.speedtest.net/.Do you have any other suggestion for this issue?
Or do I need to change setting from my WAN?WAN
IP: 192.168.0.131
subnet: 255.255.255.0
default gw: 192.168.3.254 -
Gateway on wan needs to be in same subnet as it's ip.
So 192.168.0.x
-
But our router's IP is 192.168.3.254
All the switch and PF Sense are connected to the router.Do i need to change the WAN IP?
-
FYI, network cables of the PF Sense is connected to the switch. Is this setup fine?
-
But our router's IP is 192.168.3.254
Then your pfSsense WAN has to be in that range 192.168.3.xy /24 with a default gateway of 192.168.3.254
Your pfSense LAN must be in a different range and all the clients behind it as well.
That's why a router is ROUTING traffic. On the same subnet it's called SWITCHING (or BRIDGING in some cases but you do NOT want to do that here!) -
Hi jahonix and johnkeates. Thank you for your support.
It is already working now. :) :D :D
