Thanks for your response. I have tried that one also with no results. I have opted for downgrading Windows to 1703 to see what happens.

      Thanks

What do you mean exactly by "no results"?

What shows up in device manager?

          Hi @jmv43 ,

i used a Profilic 2303 a long time to access the serial console of my pfSense.

But this also stopped working with Windows 10. On the driver download page http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=225&pcid=41 there was an information about this. Maybe your Profilic used has same issue.

I bought some cheap USB-toSerial adapter then and it works since.

I also have one of those cheap adapters, which I bought several years ago. When I checked it in the Control Panel, there was an error message that said it couldn't start. After installing that driver, it now works.

BTW, I've never had a problem with that adapter in Linux. It just works.

PfSense running on Qotom mini PC
i5 CPU, 4 GB memory, 32 GB SSD & 4 Intel Gb Ethernet ports.
          UniFi AC-Lite access point

          I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...

No results means that the results you were expecting are not there. Nothing has shown up in the device manager.

              That is still very ambiguous.

Nothing has shown up in the device manager.

That, however, is a real clue.

If nothing shows up in device manager, perhaps it is not making a good physical connection. Even if you are using the included USB cable, try another one.

I have tried several cables already as per the troubleshooting with support. I don't have the resources or the skills to perform this procedure. I guess I will be returning the box.

All kidding aside, find someone with a Mac and plug it into that. Follow these instructions:

                  https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/hardware/connecting-to-the-serial-console.html

It will "just work", or at least there's a high probability it will.

You can consider this problem solved.

                        Thanks
