SG-5100 difficulty booting from USB
-
Netgate Team!
I'm having difficulty booting SG-5100 from USB. I am attempting to boot ADI-2.4.4 so that I can put pfSense on a newly install M2SATA. I have tried two different USBs. The USBs were created with Etcher. I have checked the BIOS and it is set to boot first from USB. I have tried with the BIOS USB set to both Dual and Legacy. I tried this in both USB ports. The boot process does see the USB and in all cases I get:
FreeBSDx86 bootstrap loader, rev 1.1
Wed Nov 21 08:03:01 EST 2018 root@buildbot2.nyi.netgate.com
Loading /boot/defaults/loader.conf
/What I remember being the normally spinning slash (/ | \ ... ) does not happen. I have given it +10 minutes with no successful boot.
Any ideas?
Thanks for the help!

AFAIK pfSense-netgate-memstick-serial-2.4.4-RELEASE-p3-amd64.img.gz is the correct Image for the SG-5100.
Open a support ticket to request access to the factory Installer Image.-Rico

@garyn IF you have not already opened a ticket, please do so at https://go.netgate.com we will be happy to get the required image over to you.

@chrismacmahon Just opened, thanks!

@Rico Thanks!

@chrismacmahon or @Rico - two questions:
-
Curious, how would I have known which version (ADI, serial) to select for this system? Is there table tucked away in the documentation or the Netgate site somewhere?
-
What is the difference between factory and the public versions?
Thanks!

The page pointed to by the link chrismacmahon posted tells you which image to use for the SG-5100.

For almost each Netgate hardware there is a tweaked Image you should/need to use.
Which one exactly is in the device documentation.-Rico
