New SG 5100 wont hand out IP addresses, cannot connect to console
-
Hi
Just received my first Netgate product, a SG 5100 and I cannot seem to get it to boot up.
- One of my subnets has a 192.168.1.0/24 CIDR, so I connected a LAN cable from IX0 to my computer. The SG 5100 wont hand out IP addresses.
- Next I connected my WAN cable to IXB0 and my LAN cable to IX0. Still no IP address.
- I also tried to connect to the console on a Mac using https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/sg-5100/connect-to-console.html, but I couldn't find a /dev/cu.usbserial.
I dont know if I am missing something obvious or if the equipment is broken.
Thanks!

I never could get the prolific UART drivers to work correctly on my mac so I bought the "serial" app from the App store which carries its own uart drivers.

The default is WAN on IGB0 and LAN on IGB1. IX0-IX4 are unassigned.

ix0-ix3 should be assigned but not enabled by default. igb1 is LAN by default and that's where you be given an IP address via DHCP.
