PPOE Not working
-
Dears,
i have a ppoe connection with my isp. The problem is that is not working on pfsense. Instead if i use a Fortigate router, it works. Checked and rechecked the username and password but the are ok.
how to troubleshoot?
thanks

Called the isp and basically they told me that they have registered the mac address of the fortigate router so this is the rwason why it is not working.
Ok, so i tried to spoof it on the pfsense but it is not working...
Any idea if it is working this feature?Thanks

Typically, powering down/up the modem will take care of the mac issue.

emmm..
Will try...but how come the restart of the modem will fix that? -
@albgen
Powering the modem down and up clears out the saved mac address. It's the standard fix for when you change firewalls. If that fails, the next step would be to set the modem back to default, but that's usually not necessary. Also, leave the power off for a few seconds. My ISP says 10 seconds. -
Otherwise call the ISP and have them unregister it so you can connect a new device.
Or assign the PPPoE parent interface and spoof the MAC there.

@stephenw10 i dont want to change thenmac address om the isp side. I want to have the pfsense as spare.
How to assign the ppoe interface and spoof? -
Assign the parent NIC as a new interface. Enable it, spoof the MAC, leave the IP types set as none.
