nmi is usualy a hardware issue, motherboard/cpu/vga
is it an old pc? -
yes it is.. its a cpu motherboard combo out of a Acer H340 nas 2006
it has no built in video card.. headless.and been my router for several months. as i got to to use 34 watts to run for pfsense
so it doesn't exactly say....
does it say if it was overheating at all.. or the temperature at time of crash? -
@comet424 said in crash reported.. can you tell me what happened?:
or the temperature
A temperature difference of 1 ore 2 F (3 ° C) would kill that device right away.
It's like old people, they become somewhat sensitive over time.2006 ......

<2>NMI ISA a0, EISA ff <2>RAM parity error, likely hardware failure. panic: NMI indicates hardware failure
Definitely hardware.
-
ya 2006 least I thought so maybe 2008 9 as I googled it but now iseen reviews 2009
so not 100% sure lol
https://sstahlman.blogspot.com/2011/02/acer-easystore-h340-using-eon-to-fool.html
that's a link of the boardfrom the RAM Parity error.. is that saying the ram is failing?
and so far cpu temperature is 19 degrees I even have a better fan in in.. as I upgraded my
sisters nas h340 to a newer mobo ram etc.. and I repurposed the motherboard. and stuck it in a 1u
and its great pfsense works on older stuff... less scrap and can reuse a computer then landfill or recycled -
It may be the RAM but given the age of the hardware, I'd consider the whole setup to be untrustworthy.

oh ok thank you.. and I don't know if you know or not.
but is there a recommended mini itx board you guys use. as I can swap board out
with the built on cpubut if you don't that's ok.. I will research more then..
and I appreciate the help
-
Since Netgate sells their own hardware for pfSense, they won't make any official statements regarding other companies' hardware, including build-your-own. But there is a hardware forum here that others will talk about their setups or ask questions about things in...
