Without getting too personal, we wanted to get out of the desert. With the current work from home gig it could have been anywhere we wanted:

      1. Not the desert - with moderate winters.
      2. Good internet - AT&T areas were specifically and wholly avoided.
      3. No state income tax
      4. No major, common threats like tornadoes and hurricanes
      5. Enough population that I might be able to get a job if this dries up
      6. People who are like-minded politically and a legislature that is not teetering on the brink of disaster such as Nevada's was before it fell off the cliff.

Turns out this has been a bad year for tornadoes in TN but it's fairly uncommon. EPB with an xfinity cable backup certainly checks off #2.

      Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
A comprehensive network diagram is worth 10,000 words and 15 conference calls.
DO NOT set a source address/port in a port forward or firewall rule unless you KNOW you need it!

You picked a great place. As I said, have visited many times over the years. Especially enjoy spending a couple of nights downtown every now and then and walking the river walk, touring the Aquarium (again) and have taken the grandkids with us to ride the jet boat up the river and back (leaves from and is part of the Aquarium).

Could it be because of the plugins?

Your device, a PC (?) has something like a task or process manager.
Open it up an have a look what process uses what "Ethernet' resources.

Basicly, it true, all those 'resident' programs tend to be chatty and eat up your bandwidth.
Just check out what Ethernet resources a booting Windows 10 PC uses : it's just amazing.
Btw : use a router like pfSense , it has a "Network traffic capturing" tool. Have a look what that device with that IP is using.
And subscribe to golden rule : less is always better.

Edit : and where are the logs ??

I wanted to again stress the importance of the browser when conducting a speed test. 940/940 is expected here:

Test Unit: 2012 MacBook Pro 2.3GHz i7. Tests run back to back to back to back using the same device through the same path.

              Native App:

              Firefox:

              Chrome:

It was installed a couple of days ago.

I had to wait for an X520 card that came yesterday.

                Ubuntu X520 <-> ix1.240 <-> tnsr 20.02 NAT <-> ix0 <-> ISP 10G

                Impressive. Awesome speed.

                    Ha. I doubt that's a domestic connection though. 😉
