      @stusmith What are you seeing in your serial console?

        @kom I'm not actually able to connect via console. That's my problem :(

        I downloaded the SILabs drivers, but am not able to get the connection to work. When I type "screen COM3 115200", Terminal tells me, "Cannot exec COM3".

          @stusmith You're connecting via USB correct? You would have to use a USB port. I'm not a Mac guy so I can't help you with that but on my Linux box I would use something like putty to connect to /dev/ttyUSB0.

            @kom Yeah I'm using USB. You make a good point. Maybe I can spin up a Linux VM on my Mac and try it that way. #things_work_better_in_Linux ;)

              @stusmith That won't solve your problem. The Netgate page says that for Mac you should look to connect to something like this:

              /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART

                @kom this seems to be the root of my problem. I installed the SILab driver, but this particular driver "cu.SLAB_xxx" doesn't show up in /dev/. The only one I have is "cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port".

                  @stusmith Do you have any other type of computer you could use? I can't help you with Mac driver issues. Perhaps a Linux live boot disc might do the trick.

                    @kom Good question. I tried this on a Windows 10 PC and Putty, but couldn't get virtual COM drivers working there either.

                      @kom I like the Linux live boot option as well (from a flashdrive--who has CD-ROM these days)?

                        @stusmith Serial for MacOS has a 7-day demo version you can download. It has built-in driver support for several serial chipsets and I've used it with SG-1000/SG-1100 and SG-2100 appliances.

                          @bigsy quick update, "Serial" worked flawlessly!

                          I got my Netgate back in operation.

                            Serial = a COM port, right ?

                            So, the SG1100 isn't bricked after all ?

                            Edit : and where are the logs ??

                              Serial = (virtual) COM Port, yes

                              Bricked = kinda depends on how "bricked" bricked was...but it wasn't bricked so bad it became a door stop. :)
