pfSense on Watchguard M370
-
@qinghua907 I've tested and it seems to work fine.

@hangmansnoose001380 good news

@hangmansnoose001380
Last weekend, I flash the BIOS of m470. Now I can enter the BIOS, set Rui frequency and set USB startup. It's very good. Thank you!
-
@hangmansnoose001380 Can you DM me the BIOS-File too? I have been looking for the original bios for a long time, but have not found anything on the internet.
Thx
-
@johann31 Flashed the new firmware yesterday, BIOS can now be entered without the password, thank you!
-
You used an external programmer?
-
Yes, the CH341A.
-
Hello all,
Is the unlocked BIOS image for the M470 posted anywhere or is it only available via PM ?
Also, can the BIOS only be flashed by an external programmer ? Or can we complete the BIOS flash via a secondary bootable mSATA with FreeDOS, etc etc ?
:) -
Only external programmer. Yet....
-
Well gosh darn it
I'll be a monkey's .....Guess I'll just keep running my M470's as-is for now
:) -
I guess this might be more of a global query, but who out there might have a confirmed-good unlocked BIOS image file for the M370 and/or the M470 ?
I would like to acquire a copy of both, so if there are forum dwellers out there who could send them to me.... That would be fantastic.
I already have the EZP2019 USB programmer for 24 25 93 bios, but I could also easily order the CH341A USB programmer for 24 25 bios if all-of-whom-has-already-flashed the M370/M470 feel it is safer to use for this task.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can assist or offer feedback on this quest.

May I ask for org. BIOS from m470 please?
-
@mookatroid I don't think the specific programmer matters but the steps above have only been tested with the CH341a so it's really up to you if you want to take the risk with another programmer/programming software.
-
@hangmansnoose001380 I got CH341A programmer. Do you have access to orginal bios m470 to? Can you please send me PM? Thank you.

Hello, I am interested in installing pfsense on my M570, but it came without his original mSATA and I would like to test if everything works fine.
Could anyone here create a DD image of the original fireware os SSD for me?
I searched everywhere on the internet and this is the only post i found where people is actively modding his firebox.Thank you very much!

Has anyone got one of these NCB-WG4210 boards running 32GB of RAM?
I managed to get hold of x2 16GB DDR4 2400 ECC memory modules for my M570 but it wouldn't boot with them in, they are dual row (2Rx8) and the original RAM is single row (1Rx8), I don't know if this is the issue or not. They were also different manufacturers but identical specs.
The closest board I can get more information about is the Lanner NCA-4210 but this doesn't specify any further, it just states it can take up to 288pin DDR4 2400 ECC or Non ECC depending on chipset.
I presume since I have the i3-6100 CPU and the existing RAM is ECC that mine has an Intel C236 Chipset which should support ECC or NON ECC memory?
I have proxmox installed as a Hypervisor and it runs quite well, I have PFSense as a guest virtual machine (VM) and it performs very well, the box has plenty of available CPU to run some other VMs, I'd just like to get the RAM up to 16GB or ideally 32GB to run some Windows servers as VMs.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks. -
@mh-0 ... just to clarify, the M470/M570/M670 series only supports ECC Unbuffered not ECC Registered. I had my M470 running with 32GB non-ECC for some time, but eventually fell back to 8GB of ECC Unbuffered.
-
Mine is a m370...upgraded the CPU to an i5-7400 and 16GB non ecc ram.
Does it boot with 1 stick ? And already mentioned...only ecc unbuffered is supported.
Mine came with an Celeron and 1x 4gb ecc unbuffered. -
@mookatroid Thanks, that's very helpful.

@soupman Thanks, that's very helpful.
