Re: Packages are currently being reinstalled in the background

Working on 2.4.4.p2 AMD version. After the update to p2 the message "packages are being reinstalled" appeared and even after several days, the message does not go away.
Rebooting, "clear package lock' , neither 'manual reinstall' is solving the problem: The moment when I go into 'reinstall or package manager the message 'PID still holds the lock' appears.
      Upgrade/reinstalling seems to remain hanging.
What is the next thing to do?
      appreciate the help!!

        This issue survives a re-install?

Hard to imagine how that could happen.

Does that process still show as running?

Do you see it in /var/run? Or a lock file in /tmp?

          Hi Steve,
Point is, that i cannot even do a reinstall. As the error message I included in my earlier message indicates.
A reinstall of any package or even a manual reinstall provides error message as per above 'still holds the lock'.

Save a config.xml backup (or use one you already had) and then reinstall. Restore your config and move on.

Ah, sorry, yes I thought you meant a complete re-install of pfSense.

That is probably the fastest way to resolve this.

              Steve
