SG-2220 No interfaces found!
-
Please help. After upgrading from 2.4.2p1 to 2.4.4p2 I'm getting.
"No interfaces found!
pfSense cannot continue without at least one Network Interface Card."Both Ethernet interfaces light up Grn/Grn but the switch ports that then are plugged into do not light up. The SG-2220 was working fine when I replaced it a few months ago. Any ideas?
I was initially confused as to which image to install. Do I have the correct BIOS?

I have tried the following which installed properly but no interfaces.
pfSense-netgate-memstick-ADI-2.4.4-RELEASE-p1-amd64.img
pfSense-netgate-memstick-ADI-2.4.4-RELEASE-p2-amd64.imgBefore knowing better I was trying to install the CE versions and also tried ipxe.usb.

@jronald said in SG-2220 No interfaces found!:
igb0: Setup of Shared code failed
device_attach: igb0 attach returned 6That error is a little worrisome. The NICs are detected but the driver is failing to attach. Normally I'd suspect it doesn't have the right nmbclusters value in
/boot/loader.conf
but with the factory image, it should have that configured OK by default. -
@jimp booted into single user mode loader.conf shows the following, which is similar to my other SG-2220 that I am currently using.
cat /boot/loader.conf
autoboot_delay="3"
kern.ipc.nmbclusters="1000000"
kern.ipc.nmbjumbop="524288"
kern.ipc.nmbjumbo9="524288"
hw.usb.no_pf="1"
boot_serial="YES"
console="comconsole"
comconsole_port="0x2F8"
hint.uart.0.flags="0x00"
hint.uart.1.flags="0x10"
comconsole_speed="115200" -
Is there a way that the interfaces were somehow disabled?
-
I'm not aware of any way to disable them.
Those errors usually appear when the NIC is unable to detect the PHY. You see it in a normal boot on the SG-2220 because only two of the four NICs in the SoC are connected. Here you are seeing all four behave the same.
Is it possible it saw an electrical surge of some sort?
About the only thing you might try there is to reset the NVRAM but on the 2220 that is not easy as the required jumper is unpopulated.
Steve
-
Steve,
Thank you for the info. I would like to try resetting the NVRAM. Do you know the id of the jumper? Is it the only unpopulated jumper? Sorry, I don't have the board with me. We usually just short such using pointy tweezers and then apply power to clear the NVRAM.

Can you open a ticket with us, at https://go.netgate.com I'll keep my eye out for it and send that information over.
Please include your Serial number, Netgate DeviceID or Order number when opening the ticket.
