(SOLVED) vnstatd Status Traffic Totals data collection daemon not loading
-
Upgrade to 2.4.5-RC went well with one exception, the package vnstatd is not loading. I uninstalled the package and reinstalled it which did not resolve the issue.
When I attempt to manually start it, I see no errors or logs in System Logs / System / General.

You have to enable graphing again in the bandwidth totals applet, otherwise, it will not start.

@mrancier thank you - I would not have caught that. It's working now. This is solved.

@mrancier where do I find the "bandwith totals applet" to enable "graphing"? I am experiencing the same problem.
-
@hugoeyng System->Package Manager and then click on the tab Available Packages. Search for 'Status_Traffic_Totals' and install. Once this is installed, you can go to Status->Traffic Totals.

@ragnar00 Thank you. I found it.

After attempting to manually start vnstatd, you can check its status using the following command:
service vnstatd status
You should ensure that the configuration file for vnstatd is correctly set up. You can find the configuration file at /usr/local/etc/rc.d/vnstatd. See if any parameters or settings that might have changed in the new version. If your system uses systemd, there might be conflicts between the init system and systemd. Ensure that vnstatd is configured to work correctly with your init system. Even though you haven't found anything in the General logs, it's worth checking other logs such as /var/log/messages for any potential vnstatd-related issues.
