Does someone have Netgate SG-2100 internal slot?
-
@doronl15
Hi Steve,
According to netgate documentation the intel card should work.
However need to update the Intel acknowledgment.
How do I edit the /boot/configuration file?
I'm new in psfense never had to change anything in the environment.Doron.
-
To add custom loader variables create the file /boot/loader.conf.local and add them there.
However you do not need to ack those to use them. The PCI driver for the SG-2100 (and SG-1100) is still in active development so some devices may not be recognised regardless of the drivers for those devices. Check the output of
pciconf -lv
to see if the card is seen on the bus at all.I have specifically tested the WLE200NX and know it works, others may not.
Also bare in mind there are some wifi cards that are mPCIe format but are actually connected using USB. Those will never work as the slot is not wired for USB.
Steve
-
Hi Steve,
Run the commands its recognized on the pcie as RT3090 wifi card, category network.
However can not add it in the interface assign wireless.Doron.
-
Oh, nice! So it shows as a 'none' device? What are the PCI IDs shown?
Hmm, I thought that would be supported but it looks like it might be ral(4) only. And that is not in the 2.4.5 arm64 kernel it appears...
Steve
-
Hi Steve,
here is the complete snapshot of the command prompt
hope it will help, it works well with x86 HP T610 pc with pfSense 3.4.5 -
Yeah, that device requires the ral driver:
https://github.com/pfsense/FreeBSD-src/blob/RELENG_2_4_5/sys/dev/ral/if_ral_pci.c#L90It's not in the pfSense 2.4.5 arm64 kernel currently. I created a feature request for it:
https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/10934Steve
-
Could you add that pciconf output as text here so I can add it? Or you can add it there yourself.
The other useful output there is to reboot the SG-2100 and interrrupt uboot to reach the Marvell> prompt. Then at that prompt run:
pci long
That will give a bunch of PCI infor about the card that could be useful for debugging the PCI driver.
For example the WLE200NX looks like:Marvell>> pci long Scanning PCI devices on bus 0 Found PCI device 00.00.00: vendor ID = 0x168c device ID = 0x002a command register ID = 0x0006 status register = 0x0010 revision ID = 0x01 class code = 0x02 (Network controller) sub class code = 0x80 programming interface = 0x00 cache line = 0x08 latency time = 0x00 header type = 0x00 BIST = 0x00 base address 0 = 0xe8000004 base address 1 = 0x00000000 base address 2 = 0x00000000 base address 3 = 0x00000000 base address 4 = 0x00000000 base address 5 = 0x00000000 cardBus CIS pointer = 0x00000000 sub system vendor ID = 0x168c sub system ID = 0x3099 expansion ROM base address = 0x00000000 interrupt line = 0xff interrupt pin = 0x01 min Grant = 0x00 max Latency = 0x00

What actual card is that you have? I'll grab one to test with if I can.

Hi Steve,
some bad news, i wanted to restore a backup from the T610 to the SG-2100 and now the SG-2100 is completely stuck.
its going all the way until it say "bootup complete" then the terminal is stuck.
how do i flash new fw? or do factory defaults without terminal?TIM-1.0 WTMI-devel-1.0.0-1115f12 WTMI: system early-init SVC REV: 5, CPU VDD voltage: 1.225V NOTICE: Booting Trusted Firmware NOTICE: BL1: v1.5(release):ROGUE2-01.00.00.01-cpu1_2G-0-g06b570a8d (Marvell-release-1.3.0) NOTICE: BL1: Built : 14:34:11, Feb 7 2020 NOTICE: BL1: Booting BL2 NOTICE: BL2: v1.5(release):ROGUE2-01.00.00.01-cpu1_2G-0-g06b570a8d (Marvell-release-1.3.0) NOTICE: BL2: Built : 14:34:13, Feb 7 2020 NOTICE: BL1: Booting BL31 NOTICE: BL31: v1.5(release):ROGUE2-01.00.00.01-cpu1_2G-0-g06b570a8d (Marvell-release-1.3.0) NOTICE: BL31: Built : 14 U-Boot 2018.03-devel-1.2.0ROGUE2-01.00.00.02+ (Feb 07 2020 - 14:33:22 -0500) Model: Silicom Rogue-2 CPU 1200 [MHz] L2 800 [MHz] TClock 200 [MHz] DDR 750 [MHz] DRAM: 3.4 GiB Comphy chip #0: Comphy-0: SGMII1 3.125 Gbps Comphy-1: PEX0 2.5 Gbps Comphy-2: SATA0 6 Gbps PCIE-0: Link down MMC: sdhci@d8000: 0 Loading Environment from SPI Flash... mvebu_spi_ofdata_to_platdata: ofdata clock 200000000, frequency 20000000 SF: Detected w25q32bv with page size 256 Bytes, erase size 4 KiB, total 4 MiB OK Model: Silicom Rogue-2 Net: eth0: neta@30000 [PRIME], eth1: neta@40000 Hit any key to stop autoboot: 0 Setting bus to 1 13323 armada-3720-sg1100.dtb 13535 armada-3720-sg2100.dtb 2 file(s), 0 dir(s) 13535 bytes read in 9 ms (1.4 MiB/s) 393216 bytes read in 21 ms (17.9 MiB/s) ## Starting EFI application at 01000000 ... anning disk sdhci@d8000.blk... Hi Steve,
the reset button does not work, however in LAN1 i've succeeded to get the GUI and restored the configuration.
So we are back in square 1
here is photo of the Ralink3090
-
I'll see if I can grab get one.
The config you restored probably had the wrong console type setup would be my first guess. You could probably have just enabled the serial console in the gui in Sys > Adv > Admin Access.
Steve
-
The ral(4) driver is now in 2.5 snapshots for the SG-2100:
[2.5.0-DEVELOPMENT][admin@2100-2.stevew.lan]/root: kldstat -v | grep /ral 163 pci/ral
Steve
-
I acquired a card that uses this driver, it appears to be detected and driver loads:
[2.5.0-DEVELOPMENT][root@2100-2.stevew.lan]/root: pciconf -lv ral0@pci0:0:0:0: class=0x028000 card=0x27901814 chip=0x07811814 rev=0x00 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Ralink corp.' device = 'RT2790 Wireless 802.11n 1T/2R PCIe' class = network
-
Is this in 2.5.0 beta?
Since its not released yet. -
It is in current 2.5 snaps yes.
That particular card just causes a panic when I try to configure it so if you can test something else that would be great.
Steve
-
Bad news.
I've tried to update to latest 2.5.0 developments snapshot and now the system won't boot and stuck in the Marvell UBOOT with bad CRC.
What can I do to recover?Doron.
-
Bad crc might just be because it tried to boot from something that doesn't exist.
Open a ticket with us and get the restore image if it's unbootable: https://go.netgate.com/
Steve
-
I've opened a ticket.
Thanks. -
The kernel panic here is now resolved. However the particular card I have does not work. Needs more testing with different hardware:
