SG2100 run usbrecovery
-
Got a brand new SG2100. I want to run CE on it.
So I downloaded and tried installing these images:-
pfSense-CE-memstick-ADI-2.5.1-RELEASE-amd64.img.gz
-
pfSense-CE-memstick-serial-2.5.1-RELEASE-amd64.img.gz
In Putty on Windows:
Marvell>> run usbrecovery MMC erase: dev # 0, block # 0, count 4194304 ... 4194304 blocks erased: OK resetting USB... USB0: Register 2000104 NbrPorts 2 Starting the controller USB XHCI 1.00 USB1: USB EHCI 1.00 scanning bus 0 for devices... 1 USB Device(s) found scanning bus 1 for devices... EHCI timed out on TD - token=0x80008d80 USB device not accepting new address (error=22) 1 USB Device(s) found scanning usb for storage devices... 0 Storage Device(s) found ** Bad device usb 0 **
Tried a different thumbdrive:
Marvell>> run usbrecovery MMC erase: dev # 0, block # 0, count 4194304 ... 4194304 blocks erased: OK resetting USB... USB0: Register 2000104 NbrPorts 2 Starting the controller USB XHCI 1.00 USB1: USB EHCI 1.00 scanning bus 0 for devices... 1 USB Device(s) found scanning bus 1 for devices... 2 USB Device(s) found scanning usb for storage devices... 1 Storage Device(s) found ** Unrecognized filesystem type **
Tried both Rufus and Disk Imager, same result.

I can flash plus-recovery image but not CE. Is this expected?
-
@peterlecki Curious why you want to run CE on this device?
The SG-2100, which uses an ARM64 CPU, will run only pfSense Factory Edition (2.4.5p1) or pfSense Plus (21.02 and later).
CE is only available for x86-64 (amd64) hardware.
-
Exactly that, there is no CE image for the SG-2100. It requires a specific arm64 image.
Open a ticket if you need a fimrware image: https://go.netgate.com/Steve

@bigsy @stephenw10
I already requested and was provided a Plus-Recovery factory image so I'm good on that. I only wanted CE because I was under the impression that the Plus image required a paid subscription to update. Is that not the case? -
@peterlecki No that is not the case at all. It is free for Netgate appliances.
If you want to run it on non-Netgate hardware, once it is available, "there will be a no charge path for home and lab use and a chargeable version for commercial use."
-
Oh, indeed! There's no charge for Plus on our hardware.
