      I have a SG-3100 that now is in eternal Root mount waiting for: CAM loop.

      I cannot get to an OS to alter anything and "factory reset" gets me right back to the loop.

      There are exactly 3 wires attached at this time. Power, Serial, one ethernet going to a USB<->1G<->laptop.

      Since uboot is all I an see... what can be done to recover from here?

      My SG-2100 i functioning ..... but, I am reticent to the update ... will I now have my backup firewall fail too?

        You should be able to re-install clean if you can access uboot still.
        Open a ticket with us to get the recovery image if you haven't already:
