My SG-1100 (running 21.05) fails every few weeks. It appears that some processes (notably unbound) have been killed, and pcscd is using all the memory:

USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TT STAT STARTED TIME COMMAND
      root 11578 0.0 66.5 679384 671332 u0- S 24Aug21 27:00.73 /usr/local/sbin/pcscd

Googling, I see references to a memory leak in pcscd. Should I just kill it after booting?

Update to 21.05.1-RELEASE - pcscd service should be disabled by default then.

It's still enabled in 21.05.1, it's 21.09 where it will be off by default. See https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/11933

You can install the System Patches package and then create an entry for afcc0e9c97c1993ae6b95f886665fcb4375d26c7 to apply the fix which will prevent the service from starting by default.

Strange, I'm running 21.05.1-RELEASE and the pcscd Service shows stopped. I never touched anything related to pcscd manually.

Just applied the patch afcc0e9c97c1993ae6b95f886665fcb4375d26c7 and rebooted.
It started with the service disabled, thanks.

              Device and firmware: 21.05.1 / SG-3100.
